This course helps artists locate their work within the broader ecosystem and clarify who their work is for. We’ll explore both commercial and non-commercial pathways — including galleries, academia, institutions, nonprofits, activism, and interdisciplinary contexts — so artists can align their outreach with their values and goals. Artists will map potential audiences, opportunities, receive a roadmap for their next outreach email, and create next steps that feel sustainable and authentic.

Svea Lin Soll

Svea brings over 25 years of experience in the art world to her work as a career strategist for artists. She has worn many hats in the industry—gallery owner, exhibition and sales director, curator, and art consultant—giving her a comprehensive understanding of how opportunities are created and sustained. She has curated over 70 exhibitions, including large-scale projects highlighting regional artists and cultural narratives, and is currently co-curating Kōmij Mour Ijin / Our Life Is Here, a two-year project with UC Berkeley and the David Brower Center. She also advises private, corporate, and hospitality clients on acquisitions, helping build collections of lasting significance.
